Top Ten Bookish Goals 2024

It’s another Tuesday and another Top Ten- this time it’s my top ten bookish ( and writing) goals

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

This time the topic my top ten bookish goals but I am going to add some of blog goals as well as they are related and some writing goals. Not surprisingly, many of them are on my 2023 list!

Beat the backlog on my Kindle

I’m going to read some of those free and cheap books sitting on my kindle this year.

DNF more books and not feel guilty

I rarely give up on a book even when it feels like torture reading it just in case in turns amazing which did happen once before with The Game of Kings (review here) and when I do I feel so guilty. But life is too short to read books that don’t click with me and there are so many books too read.

Reread The Lymond Chronicles by Dorothy Dunnett

Dorothy Dunnett is an amazing writer and The Lymond Chronicles( review here) are my favourite annual reread but I didn’t get time to do this last year.

Read all the books in all the series I have already started

I seem to have picked up a few books mid-series or missed the fact more books have been published so I am going to make more of an effort to finish them

Read more non-fiction

There are some non-fiction books that are weirder than fiction and I really need to read more of these books

Read at least one romance book in 2024

I seem to have gone off the whole romance genre to the extent that I skip past any hint of romance in any book I read. Maybe a good romance novel will get me past the hump- this was on my list year and I failed in this completely.

To not have FOMO because everyone else loved a book or series

I have been disappointed by so many books last year that didn’t live up to the hype and in 2024 I’m going to resist!

Finish a rough draft of my novel

This may mean less time reading but trying to write makes appreciate all those authors who have successfully published a book.

Take part in less blog tours

I forget how much time taking part in a blog tour can take, so I’m going to more picky about the ones I choose.

Read more Indie books recommended by other bloggers

There are so many great Indie books reviewed by other bloggers that I have added to my to read list and this year I’m going to read a few of them.

Thank you for visiting and leave a link to your TTTv

  1. Excellent goals. DNFing is a good one, I used to struggle with that but now I do it regularly if I don’t love a book. Good luck with these.

  2. Some books just need to be DNF’ed! Some books would be much better if there had been another round or two of editing done. In the meantime, we can’t waste time reading books that we aren’t clicking with. And remember, you can always give a book a second try at a different time.

And best of luck getting your rough draft completed! You’ve got this!
