Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
There are so many Things That Make Me Instantly want to Read a Book ( it doesn’t take much)
but here are the top ten
- Amazing TV /film
When I watch a TV/film I love and I find out it is based on a book, I instantly have to read the book on the basis of ‘the book has to be better than the TV programme- I now have The Last Kingdom on order from the library.

- Portal fantasies.
This is an instant read for me- I love the idea of multiple worlds accessed through portals. eg Witherward

- Enemies to Lovers/Friends in fantasy
This is one of my favourite tropes (only in fantasy) and luckily there are so many of these books around.
- Lovers/Friends to Enemies
Weird I know but I love the opposite to the enemies to friends, but I haven’t come across a lot of books with this trope.
- Found Families
There is something heart-warming about people coming together to form a family without bonds of blood.Think Six of Crows, Silver Queendom
- Books with middled aged women -the angrier the better
There are just aren’t enough books about angry middle aged women and I this is a instant read. ( The Change ( review here)

- The next book in the Tarot Card Sequence ( review here)
I really enjoy this urban fantasy series and I am eagerly waiting the next instalment.
Anthony Horowitz
I’ve only started to read his adult murder mysteries in the last few years but they have become an instant read for me.
- Next book in the River of London series by Ben Aaronovitch
I fell in love with the diverse world in these books where ancient wizard work for the Met police and the Rivers of London are real goddesses.
- The Next book in the Harry Dresden series by Jim Butcher
I have been reading this urban fantasy series for the best part of two decades and I still get excited when I hear about another book.
Thank you for visiting.
Books about middle aged women are so fun to read.

Good series always make me long for the next book! It’s tough when you just read the newest one and the next one won’t come out for another year or so. I keep telling myself not to even start a new series until all the books are published and then…I don’t list. Agh. The struggle is real!
Happy TTT!

What a great list this week! I promise that the wait will be worth it for The Last Kingdom – it’s way better than the show. And I also love books about angry middle aged women and Rivers of London, and so many more from your list!

Found families is one of my favourite tropes too. I’ve read a few more books with middle aged women in them in the past couple of years and I agree, there definitely needs to be more!
